SIGLENT SDG3000X: A New Standard in Arbitrary Waveform Generation for Semiconductor Applications

The SDG3000X Series offers a powerful and flexible signal generation solution suitable for a wide range of applications including research and development, semiconductor testing, power electronics, and academic environments.
The SDG3000X Series delivers high performance and signal fidelity. It supports output frequencies up to 200 MHz, a maximum sampling rate of 1.2 GSa/s, 16-bit vertical resolution, and a waveform memory depth of 40 Mpts per channel. The user interface features a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, providing intuitive and efficient control.
At the core of the SDG3000X Series are SIGLENT’s proprietary EasyPulse and TrueArb technologies. These innovations overcome limitations found in traditional DDS-based waveform generators. EasyPulse technology is optimized for generating high-precision pulse signals. It can produce pulses as narrow as 8 nanoseconds with stable rising and falling edges, even as the frequency changes. The technology allows for fine control of edge timing and pulse width, making it ideal for digital signal testing and power device characterization.
TrueArb technology enables point-by-point arbitrary waveform generation over a wide sampling range, from 10 mega samples per second to 600 mega samples per second. This approach maintains waveform integrity with jitter as low as 150 picoseconds and total harmonic distortion below 0.075 percent, delivering superior signal fidelity for complex waveforms.
The SDG3000X Series supports a wide range of signal generation capabilities. It includes 196 built-in arbitrary waveforms and allows users to store and reproduce complex signals with high accuracy. A flexible sequence mode enables custom playback of waveform segments with defined order and loop counts. The instrument supports PRBS signal output up to 120 Mbps, baseband and IF IQ signal generation with symbol rates from 250 to 50 mega symbols per second, and a variety of modulation types including AM, DSB-SC, FM, PM, FSK, ASK, PSK, and PWM. Sweep and burst functions are also included, allowing support for a broad range of test environments, from education and research to industrial device testing.
For power semiconductor testing, the SDG3000X is especially well-suited for double-pulse testing applications. This function is critical for analyzing the switching behavior of devices such as IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs. The instrument allows precise control of pulse widths and timing intervals using channel tracking and phase synchronization. Combined with remote control via USB or LAN, and synchronization with oscilloscopes, the SDG3000X supports efficient and automated test setups, improving both measurement accuracy and productivity.
The SDG3000X Series also offers an intelligent user experience. Its 7-inch touchscreen simplifies parameter settings and waveform visualization. It supports script imports from MATLAB and Python and integrates with oscilloscopes for automatic calibration. A built-in high-precision frequency counter and multiple communication interfaces, including LAN, USB, and optional GPIB, allow for easy remote access and multi-device synchronization. A built-in WebServer enables control through a standard web browser.
With the launch of the SDG3000X Series, SIGLENT provides a comprehensive and high-performance signal generation solution. The combination of high fidelity, advanced waveform technologies, versatile signal capabilities, and an intuitive user interface makes the SDG3000X a reliable tool for meeting the evolving needs of engineers and researchers in communications, semiconductor development, renewable energy, and education.
