A PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller is a widely used feedback control algorithm that continuously adjusts a system’s output based on the error between the desired setpoint and the actual output. It consists of three components: proportional, integral, and derivative. The proportional component produces an output proportional to the current error, the integral component integrates the error over time to eliminate steady-state errors, and the derivative component measures the rate of change of the error to anticipate future behavior. By combining these components, a PID controller can provide efficient and stable control over a wide range of systems, making it a versatile and effective tool in various industrial and automation applications.
