Polyloop participated in the Hyperloop Global competition last May in Toronto. This event was a significant opportunity for them to engage with teams from around the world and exchange ideas on various working methods. This achievement was largely made possible thanks to the support for Polyloop.

Their brand-new carbon-fiber aerodynamic hull also earned them the “Aeroshell Award” for the third consecutive year. This award is very encouraging and reaffirms their ambitious objectives for 2024-2025.

UTFR, the University of Toronto Formula Racing, represents a student-led engineering endeavor at the University of Toronto's St. George campus. Each year, this dedicated team undertakes the design, construction, and competition of a novel formula-style electric race car. Comprised of driven undergraduates and graduates from diverse academic backgrounds, UTRF has garnered acclaim, securing three Formula Student Championship titles.

Participation in UTRF offers students more than just accolades; it fosters hands-on learning, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. Engaged in activities spanning engineering design, leadership, teamwork, and project management, members cultivate a robust skill set. Students are invited to contribute to one of four specialized departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Driverless Vehicle (DV) Development, and Business, presenting a unique opportunity for immersive involvement in cutting-edge automotive innovation.

The team is proud to announce the completion of the carbon fiber seat, a technical feat expected to enhance their car's overall performance. Additionally, they've dedicated significant efforts to developing new engine parts in-house at the University of Laval, resulting in outstanding outcomes through collective dedication and collaboration.

Innovations continue with the recent finalization of new cooling plates, essential for optimal vehicle functionality. Current tests are underway to accurately measure their performance.

Moreover, the completion of car chassis welding represents a significant milestone in ensuring track safety and durability. With a unified chassis now in place, the vehicle is gradually taking shape, setting the stage for component integration.

The team made a notable impression as exhibitors at the Quebec Auto Show. This event served as an excellent opportunity for the team to spotlight their advancements and ingenuity in race car design and production.

The team also journeyed to Montreal to participate as exhibitors in a prominent event centered on promoting vehicle electrification and automation. The "RDV en route" event, hosted by Propulsion Québec, provided them with a platform to showcase their expertise and enthusiasm for innovation in the automotive sector. Additionally, it served as an excellent opportunity to connect with industry experts and engage with sponsors in attendance.

The FormUL team at the University of Laval participated at the Michigan International Speedway on June 13-17th against 70 teams in a competition that tested the technical and dynamic abilities of the team and their vehicle. The team showcased their technical abilities in preparing and fine tuning their car over multiple days. The inspections covered both mechanical and electrical fitness of the car. The car passed all of the tests, allowing the team and their car to participate in the dynamic events of the day for acceleration, skid-pad, and autocross. FormUL was able to complete the 22 km endurance, a feat that hadn't been achieved since 2019 and only 11 teams were able to accomplish this year.

Congratulations to the FormUL team for placing 14th out of 70 teams. We look forward to their continued growth!

Electro-Meters is proud to announce that they will continue their 2022 sponsorship of Polyloop and will continue into 2023. 

Hyperloop is a new mode of high-speed transportation, similar to a train in which a pod travels inside a low pressure tube. It is the near perfect vacuum in the tube that reduces air friction and allows the capsule to travel at impressive speeds.

The entire system uses only electrical energy and could be powered by solar panels installed above the tube. This technology would therefore be the fastest means of transport on Earth with the smallest environmental impact.

PolyLoop is a student lead team from Polytechnique Montréal aiming to develop and build a Hyperloop pod in order to participate in the international Hyperloop Pod Competition. They are the first and the only team in Quebec to pursue the development of this kind of technology. Since January 2020, PolyLoop strives to foster an environment which allows its members to showcase their technical skills while also leading them to make a change in the world of transport.

The Formula SAE competitions challenge teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop and compete with small, formula style vehicles. The competition is an engineering education competition that requires performance demonstration of vehicles in a series of events, both off track and on track against the clock. Each competition gives teams the chance to demonstrate their creativity and engineering skills in comparison to teams from other universities around the world.
