The meter’s display consists of 20 LED segments individually driven by 20 comparators divided into a left side set and a right side set of ten comparators each.

The user can select and adjust the three internal reference voltages that are applied respectively, to the left side of the left comparator set, the center point where the two comparator sets are joined in series and the right side of the right comparator set. The meter’s circuitry detects when the input signal corresponds to the voltage at any one of the 20 points along the two comparator divider networks with a step accuracy of better than 0.1%. The meter can be adjusted so that both comparator sets have an equal reference voltage across them which will produce a linear full scale display, or if required, they can have a different reference voltage which will enable each half of the meter’s display to have a different scale or sensitivity.

There are seven header selectable input ranges of 50mV, 100mV, 200mV, 1V ,5V ,10V and 4-20mA. The meter comes standard with a scale of 0 – 100%, but any required scale and unit of readout can be specially ordered. The meter may also be ordered with a dot mode display option.

The AM-30 uses a 30-pin PCB edge card connector or optionally a Push-On™ screw terminal connector may be used (see ordering information on page 8). This bargraph is designed especially for use in process applications where a low cost visual analog indication is required.

On-site scaling and recalibration is facilitated by multi-turn potentiometer that provide continuous adjustment within each of three header-programmable full scale ranges for span and zero offset. Display Hold and Display Test functions are also provided. The standard meters have a high efficiency red LED display. Green displays may also be specified. The MU-35 interconnects by means of a push-on screw terminal that is provided with the meter. A high quality, internally isolated, wide range, switching supply built into every MU-35 meter. This allows the meter to operate from a wide range of AC or DC voltages. (See specifications.) The isolation ensures that ground loop currents do not affect the meter stability.

These meters offer such features as lockable front panel scaling and calibration, any 4 to 20 mA signal can be scaled from almost any two input values to display any required engineering unit of measure. A 4-20 mA input can display 50,000 or 60,000 counts. The 6th or 7th digit can be selected to display °F, °C or an inactive extra zero from a dip switch at the rear of the case.

With less than a 4 V loop drop, these meters can be inserted in the 24 V input loop excitation provided by the Lynx, Leopard and Tiger meter families. The optional 4-20 mA outputs from these meters can power several SD-50X or SD-60XI units as remote displays.

The SD-802 has a dual 8-digit display with a 5.5mm high dot matrix LCD, it can act as a totalizer. Two totalizers are available. The totalizer calculates the running total of a process signal being metered by accumulating an input process variable over time. It can also retain peak and valley (min/max) information and recall this on the front

The meters are supplied factory-configured either for ‘J’ or ‘K’ thermocouples, and scaled for ˚C or ˚F. On site re-scaling for ˚C or ˚F is possible. A selectable ˚C/˚F descriptor is included with every meter. The unique differential input configuration facilitates operation with both  rounded and ungrounded probes and allows several meters, operating with grounded thermocouples, to be powered by the same non-isolated 5VDC supply.

Each SP-Series meter is provided with a set of screw terminal blocks that can accept either bare wire or crimp-on 0.110″ x 0.032″ insulated disconnects. The SP-Series pin out is designed so that a standard PCB edge connector can also be used instead of the screw terminal blocks if desired.
